專案背景
The customer in this case is a metal powder recycling and classification company located in Russia. The material being processed is an alloy powder with a density of 1.8 g/cm³, which is considered a medium-to-light powder material. Their existing production line used a conventional motor-driven vibrating sieve. During operation, two major issues occurred:
- First, the screen mesh frequently became blocked, requiring shutdown and cleaning every two hours.
- Second, there was a potential dust explosion risk at the production site. The customer had strict restrictions on electrical equipment, and the motor of a conventional vibrating sieve could not meet the required explosion-proof standards.
The customer wanted to maintain the existing production process while achieving a stable screening capacity of 800 kg/h and ensuring safe equipment operation.

Jiarui’s Metal Powder Screening Solution
Jiarui recommended the JRQ800-1S Pneumatic Vibratory Sifter. The main solution was to replace motor-driven vibration with pneumatic power, eliminating the potential risk of electrical sparks at the source.
The equipment uses compressed air to drive the vibrator and generate high-frequency, low-amplitude vibration. The entire screening system adopts a sealed structure combined with an airtight explosion-proof design, meeting the customer’s explosion-proof zoning requirements.
All material contact parts are made of 304 stainless steel to prevent contamination between the metal powder and equipment materials.

Why We Recommended JRQ800-1S Pneumatic Vibratory Sifter
The customer had strict limitations on electrical equipment at the production site. Modifying a conventional motor-driven vibrating sieve into an explosion-proof version would have required higher costs and more complicated maintenance.
The JRQ800-1S uses compressed air as the power source. The pneumatic vibrator does not generate electrical sparks, and the equipment does not require a motor, providing natural advantages for explosion-proof applications. Combined with the airtight structure, the inside of the screening machine is isolated from the external environment, preventing powder leakage and meeting the explosion-proof requirements for metal powder processing equipment in Russia.
To solve the screen blocking issue, the frequency and amplitude of the pneumatic vibrator can be adjusted independently. Compared with a traditional motor-driven vibrating sieve, the Metal Powder Screening Machine can better match the characteristics of metal powder materials.
The customer’s metal powder density was 1.8 g/cm³, which belongs to a relatively light powder category. The 80 mesh screen has an opening size of 0.18 mm. A conventional vibrating sieve may cause powder suspension and reduced screening efficiency due to excessive vibration amplitude. The JRQ800-1S adopts high-frequency and low-amplitude vibration. The material forms a uniform thin layer on the screen surface, improving passing efficiency. Based on the particle size distribution provided by the customer, we set the vibration frequency at 3,000 times/min and controlled the amplitude at 1.5 mm. The actual screening efficiency reached more than 92%.
In addition, the customer already had a compressed air system in the existing production line, with stable pressure at 0.6 MPa. The air consumption of the JRQ800-1S is approximately 0.4 m³/min, which could be fully supported by the existing air supply system without installing an additional air compressor. During installation, the equipment only required connection to the air pipeline and control line. No motor wiring was required, which simplified onsite installation and reduced the approval procedures related to electrical explosion-proof construction.
Comparison Before and After Installation
| Project | Before (Conventional Motor Vibrating Sieve) | After (JRQ800-1S) |
| Screen Cleaning Frequency | Shutdown cleaning required every 2 hours | Routine inspection every 8 hours, no intermediate cleaning required |
| Production Stability | Large fluctuation, actual capacity around 600 kg/h | Stable at 800 kg/h, peak capacity up to 850 kg/h |
| Explosion-Proof Safety | Motor had spark risk and required additional explosion-proof treatment | Pneumatic drive, no motor, fully airtight structure |
| Powder Leakage | Dust escaped from feeding and discharge ports | Fully sealed pipeline connection, no powder leakage |
| Maintenance Cost | Motor bearings replaced every 3 months | Pneumatic vibrator requires no maintenance, only regular cleaning of air filters |
| 噪音等級 | 85 dB(A) | 72 dB(A) |
Jiarui Engineer’s Recommendations
At the beginning of the project, the customer only provided information about screening 80 mesh metal powder. We determined that these parameters were insufficient, so we requested additional information including material density, flowability, and on-site air supply conditions.
The density of metal powder directly affects screen selection and vibration parameter adjustment.
- Powders with a density below 1.5 g/cm³ are more likely to become suspended during vibration, requiring reduced amplitude to prevent materials from jumping away from the screen surface.
- Powders with a density above 3.0 g/cm³ generally require higher vibration amplitude.
- The customer’s material density was 1.8 g/cm³, which was within the middle range. Therefore, we selected a solution combining medium amplitude with high-frequency vibration.
In addition, the customer initially requested a motor-based explosion-proof solution. After evaluation, we found that although an explosion-proof motor could meet the requirement, the cost would be higher, and motor heat generation could still create potential risks in a metal powder processing environment.
The pneumatic solution was more direct and easier to pass local safety inspections.
For similar Metal Powder Screening applications, we recommend confirming whether a stable compressed air supply is available before equipment selection. If the air pressure is below 0.5 MPa, a pressure boosting system may need to be considered. Regarding screen material selection, the customer’s material was metal powder, so we selected a 304 stainless steel woven mesh. If the material has higher hardness or stronger abrasion characteristics, 316L stainless steel mesh or additional screen tensioning devices are recommended to extend screen service life.
The customer has operated the equipment for three months, and no screen wear has been observed. We will continue to follow up on the equipment performance.
結論
The JRQ800-1S Pneumatic Vibratory Sifter successfully improved the customer’s Metal Powder Screening application in Russia by solving two main challenges: frequent screen blockage and strict explosion-proof requirements.
The equipment achieved a stable capacity of 800 kg/h and operated reliably under the customer’s production conditions.
For companies with similar metal powder or lightweight powder screening requirements, especially applications involving strict explosion-proof requirements, this case can provide a reference for equipment selection.
The vibration parameters and screen configuration should always be adjusted according to specific material characteristics. Contact Jiarui engineers for a customized screening solution.
